About Clos des Saveurs

The Clos des Saveurs cellars are owned by Eric Artiguelongue who has made it his ambition to create a collection of the finest armagnacs, the range is considerable with vintages spanning from 1888 to 1990. The armagnacs are aged in barrels until they have reached their optimum quality and then stored in glass to maintain the peak condition.

Details

From the cellars at Arblade le Haut in Gers, this independent cellarmaster has found some really fine brandies that are, for their age, extremely well matured and developed

Additional Information

Aroma A fruity start with a hint of summer straw, brioche and yeasty aromas
Ageing Aged in damp cellars in 350 litre casks for 43 years. The cellars are extensive and the firm has much experience in developing these fine cognacs
Distillation Distilled in traditional Gascogne continuous stills where the spirit passes over plates
Flavour There is a fresh bread taste with that of macadamia nuts. What is surprising about this armagnac is its balance and long rich finish
Grape Variety Several grape varieties are used including the folle blanch, ugni blanc and baco
Reduction and Strength Only very small levels of reduction are necessary for this armagnac
Viticulture The climate is soft and humid with sunny autumns and the soil is made of siliceous clay which is poor in lime, giving Bas Armagnacs a lightness and fragrance with subtle tastes
