About Delord
Small producer still upholding a family tradition of many generations. This small producer is based in Lannepax, a small town in the rolling country of Gascony. The firm is a family firm run by two brothers who have specialised in their products like many generations before them. They distil in the traditional method and have a large range of vintages of a very high quality.
Details
Armagnacs from a single year are often the result of several distillations and can be enchanting, this is certainly one of them. The flavours here are all plummy and pruney, rich and voluptuous.
Additional Information
| Aroma | Prunes and dried fruits and an aromatic richness with notes of soft spices |
|---|---|
| Distillation | Distilled at around 57 - 60 degrees. Lower than other brandies, providing greater wine flavours but less refinement than cognacs |
| Flavour | Plums and prunes with some delicious almond nutty tones and notes of soft spices such as cinnamon |
| Grape Variety | Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Baco |
| Reduction and Strength | Delord minimise their dilutions wherever possible, but all of their armagnacs are bottled at 40% abv. |
| Viticulture | The climate is soft and humid with sunny autumns and the soil is made of siliceous clay which is poor in lime, giving Bas Armagnacs a lightness and fragrance with subtle tastes |
