About Hermitage Reaux

Produced from the highest yielding region of Petite Champagne between Pons and Réaux, an area that manages to produce particularly good cognacs. The family estate is a medium sized firm around the commune of Réaux. The land here has gentle chalk hills, ideal for grape production. Ugni Blanc grapes are produced and wine yields are normally quite high enabling the maximum wine production allowed under BNIC regulations. Distillation is in 25 hltr stills.

Details

Cognac Masters 2010 - Gold Award

This vintage cognac is one of life's little finds. A beautifully smooth cognac that oozes toffee and chocolate flavours, all wrapped up with a hint of roasted walnuts. This is a cognac that will be impossible to put down and the only problem is making the bottle last.

Additional Information

Aroma This has a wonderful aroma of molasses, bitter chocolate, cardamom spice and ripe cherries
Distillation 25 hltr stills, distilled at the top end of the range around 71.5 degrees
Flavour Quite characteristic of the distiller’s style with a rich flavour of chocolate and natural toffee. There is also a pleasing taste of mature Muscat grapes which is present on the front of the mouth. This cognac is soft and completely non- aggressive providing very moreish qualities
Grape Variety Ugni Blanc
Reduction and Strength Distilled water where necessary over a period of a year
Viticulture A top growing area of Petite Champagne. The soil here is chalky and porous. There are gentle slopes and the chalk sub-strata is at various degrees of density. Climate is temperate with only very light frosts in winter
