Château de Laubade
Château de Laubade was built in 1870 and comprises 260 acres of single vineyard. A highly respected Armagnac producer, it is located in Sorbets d’Armagnac, in the heart of the top cru of the appellation, Bas Armagnac. The Lesgourgues family has been running the estate since 1974 but many interesting figures have been part of its history. One of these was Joseph Noulens, who contributed to the reconstruction of the château in 1902. Joseph was The French Ambassador to Petrograd (Saint-Petersburg) during the Russian Revolution in 1917, and then War, Finance and Agriculture Minister in Georges Clemenceau’s administration. Joseph Noulens’ second wife was Jeanne Paquin, the famous French fashion designer and founder of the luxury fashion house “Paquin”. She also contributed greatly to the estate’s reputation and worldwide influence.
