Details

This fine cognac, produced in Saint-Dizant-du-Gua overlooking the Gironde is produced from a mixture of ugni blanc, folle blanche and colombard which provides the fruity peach like flavour. There are a number of soft spicy flavours with honey and vanilla. Although Ch de Beaulon is a fourth cru cognac, it’s position near the Gironde is over a particularly porous section of chalk sub strata and there has been a concerted effort to upgrade this section of Fins Bois to Petite Champagne because of the high quality of the cognacs produced.

Additional Information

Aroma Some floral tones, particularly violet. Fresh peach and vanilla, some vine cane aromas
Distillation Produced on the lees in one of four 25 hectolitre stills
Flavour Rather like a matured version of the Napoleon with some added nutty flavours. Peach and fresh fruits are noticeable and vanilla with a little oak, medium dry flavour, no harshness and very good balance
Grape Variety Unusually, Colombard and Folle Blanche
Reduction and Strength Eau de vie mixed with distilled water then aged in oak. Only small quantities used as cellars are quite dry. No additives are used
Viticulture The growers have long wanted re-classification from Fins Bois to at least Petite Champagne as the land is virtually pure chalk providing some of the finest vine producing areas in all Charente
