  1. Hine 1952 Grande Champagne Cognac
    Only one bottle remaining

A marvellous example from this well respected cognac house. Hine is the only cognac house to be awarded a Royal Warrant so the 1952 vintage is particularly special. A reserve of this vintage was set aside to commemorate the accession of Queen Elizabeth II. This bottle of vintage cognac is superior to those known as 'Early Landed' (where the cognac was aged in England), as it was aged in Jarnac where the conditions for ageing are far preferable to those in England. The bottle comes in a burgundy, silk-lined presentation box which is very slightly damaged in one corner.

    Aroma:
Aroma: Slightly flowery and spicy with a nutty background.
    Flavour:
Flavour: Fresh and mellow on the palate with a long finish

Probably the best of the big cognac names. Founded by an immigrant from Dorset in 1791 who shipped in cask to the British wine merchants. Hine was taken over by the Distillers Company who were subsequently taken over by Guinness and then acquired by Hennessey. But the firm is still run by cousins Jacques and Bernard, the founder's great-great-great-grandsons. Most of their cognacs come from the Champagnes.
