Armagnac

Often referred to as both the oldest and youngest brandy in France, Armagnac has a rich and storied heritage. First distilled in the 15th century, likely using adapted perfume stills brought by the Moors, it remains a true artisanal spirit — still debated and refined by the Armagnaçais today. Produced in Gascony, far from industrial France, the region is a haven of rural charm, famed for its gastronomy and centuries-old distilling traditions.

Unlike Cognac, Armagnac is typically distilled once using a continuous still, which preserves a greater concentration of fruity, bold flavours. The spirit is then matured in oak and, once ready, transferred to glass bonbonnes for preservation. Brandyclassics specialises in some of the finest examples, offering an exceptional selection of luxury French spirits, with particular focus on rare, vintage Bas Armagnac — the top cru.

With limited quantities from 19th and 20th-century vintages, our Armagnacs are true collector’s items and make exceptional gifts.

I gifted a beautiful vintage Bas Armagnac from Brandyclassics for our anniversary — it was exquisitely wrapped, and the spirit itself was rich, smooth and utterly memorable. A truly special gift.” — H. Granville
