It is always difficult to associate lighter cognacs with age but this is an example that comes from just outside Ambleville in Grande Champagne and was made by one of the really old and traditional cognac houses. It brings a real pleasure to those who drink this remarkable cognac which is made from a wide range of grape varieties including Folle Blanche and Colombard.

A sublime complexity of delicate aromas from light floral tones to citric peel and dried fruits

Oak barriques in damp cellars from the beginning of the last century

Made on small narrow stills which produce beautiful aromas and flavours

There is a delightful array of flavours that compliment the dry rancio of this cognac that range from citrus peels, guava and light savoury herbs to dried fruit

Perhaps there is no better area in the whole of Grande Champagne than the valley where these grapes are grown, the chalk is soft and porous, the weather is never really aggressive and the vines thrive in the conditions
