This fine cognac, produced in Saint-Dizant-du-Gua overlooking the Gironde is produced from a mixture of ugni blanc, folle blanche and colombard which provides the fruity peach like flavour. There are a number of soft spicy flavours with honey and vanilla. Although Ch de Beaulon is a fourth cru cognac, it’s position near the Gironde is over a particularly porous section of chalk sub strata and there has been a concerted effort to upgrade this section of Fins Bois to Petite Champagne because of the high quality of the cognacs produced.

Aroma:
Some floral tones, particularly violet. Fresh peach and vanilla, some vine cane aromas
Distillation:
Produced on the lees in one of four 25 hectolitre stills

Rather like a matured version of the Napoleon with some added nutty flavours. Peach and fresh fruits are noticeable and vanilla with a little oak, medium dry flavour, no harshness and very good balance
Grape Variety:
Unusually, Colombard and Folle Blanche
Reduction & Strength:
Eau de vie mixed with distilled water then aged in oak. Only small quantities used as cellars are quite dry. No additives are used
Viticulture:
The growers have long wanted re-classification from Fins Bois to at least Petite Champagne as the land is virtually pure chalk providing some of the finest vine producing areas in all Charente
