Additional Information
- Aroma:
- Very well balanced nose, very smooth and tender a marraige of molasses, dry banana, rice powder, white chocolate, nettle flower and Petunias
- Ageing:
- All Castarede armagnacs are well aged in oak casks to provide the maximum tannins. The cellars are next to the Baise ensuring that they are always damp and providing the best conditions for these fine armagnacs.
- Distillation:
- Single distillation at around 58 – 60 degrees providing more complex aromas and taste
- Flavour:
- It offers leather flavours, dry wood, white truffle and quinine bark tints. The mouth is smooth, woody, with chocolate truffle flavours, vanilla, cinnamon, brioche-like flavours. Finishing with a reminder of liquorice.
- Grape Variety:
- Mainly Colombard, some Folle Blanche and sometimes Ugni Blanc
- Reduction & Strength:
- Limited reduction with distilled water to 40 degrees
- Viticulture:
- The climate is soft and humid with sunny autumns and the soil is made of siliceous clay which is poor in lime, giving Bas Armagnacs a lightness and fragrance with subtle tastes
