World Gin DayYet another alcohol related special day occurs this Saturday; it is World Gin Day.  According to the website its purpose is:

‘Simple, it’s a day for everyone and anyone (over the legal drinking age of course…!) to celebrate and enjoy gin! Whether you’re already a fan of the juniper spirit, or looking for an intro, World Gin Day is the perfect opportunity to get involved.’

And World Gin Day has been going for a while now:

‘World Gin Day itself was actually founded by Neil Houston in 2009, a very bright idea to bring his friends together to drink gin in Birmingham! Emma and Neil were already firm gin-friends, and so it made sense to bring the celebrations to London in 2010, involving some of Emma’s friends too, in a lovely little gin bar called Graphic in Soho. Since then the day has grown year on year, reaching an ever bigger audience.’

So what better excuse to try some new producers and flavours?  Our gins come from Denmark.  Produced by Mosgaard, they are all certified organic and come in a range of flavours from Tangerine to Oak Cask Aged.  Follow this link and get into the party spirit for next Saturday.

This month’s offers include something for everyone.  We have a wonderful vintage, premier cru cognac from Hermitage.  The 1988 Grande Champagne has flavours of roasted walnuts, spice and toffee.  From armagnac we have a vintage Delord 1990 which has a handwritten label and wax seals to make it a very special gift.  And for the gin lover, a very special, organic, tangerine gin all the way from Mosgaard in Denmark.  Go on, spoil each other!

Organic Whisky & Gin Arrives

organicWe are really excited to announce the arrival of Mosgaard Organic Whisky and Gin in a range of flavours.  The distillery is located at an old farm on the southeastern coastline of the Island of Funen – the “fruit orchard” of Denmark.  All products from the distillery are organic and Mosgaard operate a zero waste policy.

The Mosgaard distillery was established in 2015 by Gitte and Jes Mosgaard.  The South Funen area is known for its quality ingredients and there is a great network of people facing the same challenges.  Mosgaard has a modern interpretation of traditional gin with sweetness, softness, and lots of fruity notes.  The local water is rich in minerals which gives a distinct soft taste. All products from the distillery are organic to ensure a clean and crisp taste. They are proud of their sustainability record too.  All remains from the primary production are reused as animal food.  Their gin is distilled on a hybrid steam infusion kettle with a mix of organic juniper, botanicals and fresh citrus fruits.  During distillation, alcohol hits the vapours and gently extracts flavouring and aromatics that add to the sweetness of wheat alcohol.

Whiskies matured in sherry and port casks and gins flavoured with tangerine, apple or aged in oak casks are just some of the delights we have to share with you.  And the timing is perfect too, September is Organic Month!
